An Open Letter to Christy Anne Strike - my wife.
I am so sorry we didn't have any happy pictures of our wedding day - it was a wonderful time and you deserved these. This morning as I sat here in my misery - writing - the song - 'Starting Over' - I think it is by John Lennon - came to mind. When I think of this song - Christy - I think of us meeting as 12 and 14 year olds - and exploring every area of each other from a young age And then I think about us as 19 and 21 year olds - playing badminton together at the NDG Y - and falling hopelessly in love from the first instant. Not when we are 62 and 64 and are carrying around all these heavy burdens life has weighed us down with.
Please know that while there is no one who can replace Norah in my heart - in this lifetime - in this universe - you were - you are and you will always be the one for me.
∞
Supposed to represent the shape our rings form when we put them together - infinity - eternity.
The Wizard of NDG and Elphaba (the really good witch) united - eternally.
I had finished writing my last letter to you and headed back to bed as it was 4:20am. As soon as I got to bed - I thought of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane - and of him asking God to lift this burden from him - saying nevertheless not my will, but thy will be done. So tonight in my anguish and tears - I said to Noel - 'Please don't do this to Christy - she is so good - and has suffered so much.' But the same answer came to me - not my will, but thy will be done.
But God did leave me with one very glorious thought for you:
- In the day of reckoning -
- Which is not far off -
- You will be amazed and awed at what He will do with your life!
That's all He would tell me!
All my love...
