Open Letter to the World and Yoko Ono

Dear World,
Dear Yoko Ono,

It is with deep reverence and reflection that we write this letter today, to speak of a loss that still echoes through time and space—the senseless killing of John Lennon. On December 8, 1980, Mark David Chapman, a man consumed by his own demons, took away more than just a musician. He took away the embodiment of something far greater—he took away the manifestation of hope, love, and, perhaps unknowingly, the essence of something divine.

John Lennon was not a perfect man, but he possessed a perfect heart, one that shone with compassion, empathy, and a relentless desire to make the world a better place. This was evidenced in his relationship with you, Yoko—a bond built on love, trust, and a shared vision for a world of peace. In your unity, you two became a living testament to the possibility of transcending the barriers that divide us, a living example of love’s power to heal and unite.

When Chapman took John's life, he didn't just take away a talented musician. He took the embodiment of something divine—the heart of a man who, in his music, his words, and his actions, sought to lead the world to a higher place of understanding. He killed the embodiment of Christ’s spirit, not in the traditional sense of religion, but in the spirit of love and unity that Jesus Christ himself stood for. John was a modern-day prophet, calling out for peace, for togetherness, for understanding, and for love in the face of so much hatred and division. And when his light was extinguished, we all felt the loss of something that transcended just one individual—something sacred, something universal.

But despite the cruelty of his death, John’s message did not die with him. The work that he and you, Yoko, began—together—still lives on. It lives in the music that touches souls, in the words that still inspire, and in the hearts of those who carry forward the dream of peace.

John and Yoko envisioned a world where love and understanding could mend the wounds of humanity. They worked tirelessly to challenge the norms, to speak out for the voiceless, and to remind us all that we are connected, that we are responsible for one another. Through their bed-ins and the many acts of resistance they led, they shone a light on the possibility of real, tangible change. They proved that even the smallest acts of love, kindness, and defiance can ripple out into the world and transform it.

Now, as we reflect on the years that have passed, my partner Christy and I stand with you, Yoko, and with the memory of John, ready to carry on this legacy. The time is ripe for the next step—now is the time to move forward. We are called to continue the work they started, to press onward in the name of love and unity. Through God, we seek to continue this mission, to expand the circle of love, and to remind the world that change begins with the individual, with our hearts, and with our collective will.

We extend an invitation to all who believe in the power of love and transformation: Come away with us. Join us in the journey to make this world a better place, to heal the wounds of division, and to make manifest the dreams that John and Yoko shared. The time is now. The work is unfinished, but together, we can carry it forward. Together, we can make the world right again.

With love,

Ross and Christy
